Three people accused of a brazen midafternoon robbery and kidnapping of a 76-year-old man from a Vicksburg casino and hotel parking lot were held without bail today.

Lance Burton, 24, 3700 Gowall Road; Kodey Goulette, 20, 107 Warren St.; and Misty Lee, 21, 405 Timberlane Place, were arrested Tuesday by Vicksburg police and Warren County deputies and charged with armed robbery and kidnapping, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Stewart, who was coaching Y youth football off East Clay Street, spotted Burton across the street from his team’s practice Tuesday afternoon and called the sheriff’s office to arrest him. Burton was caught at 7:26 p.m. at Redwood Road and U.S. 61 North, and Goulette and Lee were arrested at 9:28 p.m. in the 3900 block of Gowall Road, Stewart said.

A man in the car with Goulette and Lee at the time of their arrest was questioned and released, Stewart said.

The three are accused of robbing the 76-year-old Vicksburg man at gunpoint at 2:36 p.m. Monday in the parking lot between Rainbow Casino and AmeriHost Inn, both in the 1300 block of Warrenton Road. The man was alone at the time of the robbery, Stewart said.

Goulette pulled a gun on the man and robbed him of $190 before the kidnapping, Stewart said.

“He was knocked to the ground and forced into the vehicle, but he did not have any visible injuries,” Stewart said.

Burton and Lee followed in another car as Goulette forced the man at gunpoint into Walmart SuperCenter on Iowa Boulevard, where he was made to withdraw and hand over an additional $250 from an ATM at Woodforest Bank inside the store, Stewart said.

“We haven’t recovered the money or a weapon yet,” Stewart said.

Goulette then forced the victim to drive to a convenience store on U.S. 61 North where he released the victim and fled in the car with Burton and Lee, Stewart said.

The whole ordeal is believed to have lasted about an hour, Stewart said.

After his release, the victim, who did not have a cellphone, drove himself to Vicksburg police headquarters on Veto Street and reported the kidnapping and robbery.

Burton and Goulette also were charged with felony shoplifting for the theft of a Dewalt saw and a Lincoln welder with a total value of $798 on Sept. 15 at The Home Depot, 50 Halls Ferry Park Road, Stewart said.

Burton had been indicted in October 2011 for possession of a controlled substance, and that case is pending, according to court records.

In April, Goulette pleaded guilty to non-residential burglary and possession of burglar’s tools and was sentenced to five years of probation.

All three were expected make their initial appearances today in Vicksburg Municipal Court.
