Tidwell, Chaney marry at First Baptist Church

Blake Justin Tidwell and Liza Kate Chaney were married June 16, 2012, at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Matthew Buckles officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Martin V. Chaney of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Cecil C. Ward and the late Mr. Ward of Raymond and Mr. and Mrs. Mark James Chaney Sr. of Vicksburg.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Tidwell of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Evans and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Tidwell Sr.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Music was presented by Jennifer Tillotson, pianist and organist, and Cindy Scurria, cellist. Soloist was Jared Bennett of Lynchburg, Va.

Matron of honor was Lacey Chaney Lee, sister of the bride, of Vicksburg. Maid of honor was Logan Leigh Chaney, sister of the bride, of Nashville. Bridesmaids were Katherine Hewes of Gulfport; Lauren Hurston of Jackson; Aly Phares of Pass Christian; Mary Clare Scurria of Starkville; Morgan Tidwell of Vicksburg; Jennifer Savery of Houston, Texas; and Lexie Strong of Birmingham, Ala.

Jay Tidwell served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Daniel Halinski, Jordan Henry, Seth Hudspeth, Coleman Morrison and Ryan Lee, all of Vicksburg; Coers Adams of Memphis; Michael Lazarus of McComb; Reed Thompson of Aberdeen; and Colin McBrearty of Fairhope, Ala.

Ushers were Alex Halinski, Russell Johnson and Russell Morrison.

Scripture reader was Paige Noble of Jackson. Mary Lindley Mims of Madison served as the bride’s proxy.

Flower girl was Laney Hunt, cousin of the groom. Ring bearer was Nicholas Lee, nephew of the bride.

Special wedding assistant was Carol Ann Oakman.

A reception followed at the B’nai B’rith Literary Club. Guests were entertained by Smiley and the Young Guns of Greenville.

The bride and groom traveled to French Polynesia and have made their home in Vicksburg.

Celebrations

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at B’nai B’rith.

On the morning of the wedding, the bride and her bridesmaids were treated to a brunch at Anchuca.

The bridal couple was honored with an engagement celebration at the Bazsinsky House.

The bride’s sorority sisters honored her with a shower in the Ole Miss Grove.

A celebration dinner was held at the Corin and Bob Morrison home.

A miscellaneous shower was held at First Baptist Church.

Dr. and Mrs. Phillip Scurria hosted a couple’s cooking shower.
