Jack Taylor

POINT, La. — Jack Taylor, age 79, left this world to be with his heavenly Father Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 28, 1933, in Point, La., he resided in Point all of his life after returning from his service in the U.S. Navy as an aviation electronics technician 3rd class, having served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bonhomme Richard during the Korean conflict. He worked as a process foreman at IMC in Sterlington until his retirement in 1991. Jack was a member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Carpenter and husband Bobby of Vicksburg; son, John Taylor and wife Patricia of West Monroe, La.; son, Jeff Taylor and wife Sheila of West Monroe; as well as 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a great many friends and a legacy of someone who touched so many hearts, so many lives.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Barbara; his son, Jerrel Taylor; his granddaughter, Kristen Taylor; parents, John Robert and Lorene Taylor of Point; brother, Robert V. Taylor and wife Norma of Downsville, La.; and brother, Frank Taylor of Point.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today, Oct. 25, at Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Point with interment at Mars Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at Mount Ararat Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until time of service today.
