Rita A. Griffin Maxwell died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, in Jackson. She was 47.

Mrs. Maxwell was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Jackson. She was a graduate of Vicksburg High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Jackson State University. She was employed by Life of Alabama Insurance Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Vincent Maxwell Jr.; her father, Charlie Griffin; and her grandparents.

Survivors include her son, Vernon Vincent Maxwell III of Jackson; her mother, Delores Griffin of Vicksburg; and other friends and relatives, including Emma Maxwell of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Quyvet of Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Friday with rosary being said from 6 until 7 with the Rev. Malcolm O’Leary officiating at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
