Lawrence R. Daggett

Lawrence R. Daggett died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. He was 93.
Mr. Daggett was born in Wilmot, Kan., and lived most of his life in Winfield and Independence, Kan., before retiring from Southwestern Bell after 35 years of service. He was a life member of the VFW, Telephone Pioneers and Mercy Hospital Auxiliary in Independence.
He was a Navy veteran attached to the Seabees, having served in the Pacific during World War II and in the Korean War. He moved to Vicksburg five years ago and became an active member of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg and its Berean Sunday school class.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen I. Daggett; his parents, Ralph and Opal Daggett; and a brother, Merle Daggett.
He is survived by a son, Larry Daggett and wife Marilyn of Vicksburg; a daughter, LaNita Boyd and husband Carl of Roswell, Ga.; five grandchildren, Travis Daggett, Heather Daggett-Potts, Chris Boyd, Michele Wichman and Kim Wojtal; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Buckles officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Winfield Highland Cemetery in Winfield with the Rev. Norman Reeves officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ty Wichman, Chris Wojtal, Alec Wichman, Travis Daggett, Chris Boyd and Dillon Daggett.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Berean Sunday school class.
