A second Vicksburg woman accused of defrauding a soldier out of $1,500 was held without bail this morning.

Ida Russell, 59, 2535 Oak St., was arrested on a warrant for false pretense at 5:51 p.m. Wednesday after she was recognized by an officer in the parking lot of Parkview Apartments, 510 Bazinsky Road, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Russell and Elizabeth Mitchell, 28, 111 St. Patrick St., are accused of accepting a $1,500 check from the victim who thought he was placing a deposit on a house on Bowmar Avenue, Stewart said.

The check was written March 12, but was not discovered until the victim returned from deployment and realized that he was not the owner of the house.

Mitchell posted $2,500 bail and was released. Russell was held this morning in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility awaiting her initial court appearance.
