Bricks and Spokes has successful year

Published 11:00 am Friday, November 2, 2012

As the sponsor of the 3rd annual Bricks and Spokes, the Vicksburg Main Street program wishes to thank all of our volunteers who helped make the event happen. Thanks to Colby Hopkins and Hinds Nursing School students, Brittany Hopkins, Austin Hopkins, Anna Harbin, Ronnie Bounds, Nancy Bell, Norma Massey, Alice Hebler, Ashley Baker, Donna Shows Boyd, Perry Boyd, Ann Grimshel, Venable Moore, Rick Webster, Joe Giambrone, Dustin Blount and Rodger Hopkins. Without each of these volunteers, the event would not have been the huge success it was.

We would also like to thank Jennifer Harper and the Senior Center, TV-23, The Vicksburg Police Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Herman Smith and the Vicksburg Bridge Commission, and Calvary Baptist Church. With the help of these organizations and departments, all of the cyclists were kept safe and had wonderful snacks as they completed their ride.

A special thanks goes to sponsors The Bike Crossing, RiverHills Bank, Riverwalk Casino, Trustmark National Bank, Vicksburg Insurance Agency, Rainbow Casino, River City Cyclists, Budweiser, City of Vicksburg, Luvel Prairie Farms, Road I.D., Rod’s Racers, Chamois Butt’r, DiamondJacks Casino, Ameristar Casino, BancorpSouth, Sheffield Rentals, Coomes Produce and Vicksburg Senior Center.

Last, but certainly not least, thank you to all of the cyclists who came out and took part in the event. We are grateful for your support. We hope each of you had a great time and we look forward to seeing you again next year.

The long-term goal for the event is to raise money for the Vicksburg Main Street program, a non-profit organization that serves the downtown area.

Kim Hopkins

Main Street executive director
