HOW THEY DID

A look at how players from Vicksburg-area high schools did in college football games played over the weekend.

• Tarleton State wide receiver Cordell Valentine (Warren Central) set a school record with a 99-yard touchdown reception in a 38-28 win over North Alabama. He finished with three receptions for 107 yards, and also assisted on one tackle.

• Murray State cornerback Darius Buck (Warren Central) had five solo tackles in a 49-28 win over Tennessee State.

• Mississippi State kicker Devon Bell (Warren Central) converted his only PAT attempt, did not try a field goal, and had two touchbacks on three kickoffs in the Bulldogs’ 38-13 loss to Texas A&M.

• Mississippi College wide receiver Les Lemons (Vicksburg High) caught two passes for 10 yards and ran the ball twice for 12 yards in a 70-28 loss to Louisiana College. Lemons scored a touchdown on a 1-yard run in the third quarter, and also returned four kickoffs for 66 yards.
