Bail was denied Tuesday for two men accused in the shooting death of a Vicksburg man.

County Court Judge Johnny Price denied bail for Tamares “Binky” Dillon, 32, and Christopher Glen Polk, 32, 435 Lake Hill Drive, Apt. 1402, who are accused of killing Vanguard Apartments resident Mardy Eugene Blackmore, 28, 450 Lake Hill Drive, Apt. 1606. Dillon gave police two addresses, one at Vanguard Apartments, 435 Lake Hill Drive, and 130 Lightcap Blvd.

Blackmore’s body was discovered outside the apartments at 6:41 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Blackmore’s fiancee, Jennifer Cain, said he frequently visited Polk’s apartment, Lt. Sandra Williams said. Cain told police that Blackmore left for Polk’s apartment carrying three beers at 9:30 p.m. Saturday and never returned, Williams said.

“A neighbor said they heard gunshots about 10:30 p.m.,” Williams testified during the initial court appearance.

Police have said they believe Blackmore was shot inside Polk’s apartment before his body was dumped. Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey said Blackmore died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Dillon and Polk both have criminal histories and ties to California, Assistant District Attorney Lane Campbell argued while asking Price to deny bail.

“This happened in his home basically to a friend, so we believe we should deny bail,” Campbell said of Polk.

Polk also is charged with possession of a weapon after felony conviction. He had been convicted of sale of a controlled substance in California.

Dillon is on probation from a 2009 weapons conviction and, at the time of his arrest, was free on bail from a sale of a controlled substance arrest in 2011, Campbell said. Dillon had been living in California before his drug arrest, Campbell said.

“Officials didn’t even know he was back in this state until he had committed a new crime,” Campbell said.

Polk was arrested Sunday morning along with two people who later were released without being charged. Dillon surrendered at 6:15 p.m. Monday at police headquarters.

The two murder suspects were held in the Warren County Jail this morning.
