Two Flowood residents were in Issaquena County Jail this morning charged with drug possession, Vicksburg police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Saree Riddan, 43, and Melvin Cook, 39, both of 304 Long Leaf Drive, were charged with possession of methamphetamine after officers responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at a convenience store and gas station on Indiana Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

In addition to the drug charges, Cook was charged with third-offense domestic violence, a felony.

Riddan’s bond was set at $1,500, and Cook’s, $50,000. Both were awaiting an initial court appearance.

A gram of methamphetamine was discovered in Riddan’s purse, and she accused Cook of placing the drugs there when officers arrived, Stewart said.
