Hundreds of candles will illuminate the Tiffany stained glass windows at The Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal, as The Four Seasons of the Arts wraps up its fall season with a performance by the Jackson Symphony Orchestra Nov. 18.

“This is a program we do every year, and it never stops being magical,” said Crafton Beck, music director and conductor of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra.

“It takes your breath away,” he said.

Beck said the ambience well reflects music performed, from the 17th and 18th centuries and includes Franz Josef Haydn’s Symphony No. 73, composed in 1781, and George Frederick Handel’s Water Music Suite No. 1, in F Major.

Selections from 20th century composers John Adams and Erkki-Sven Tuur also will be performed said Beck.

Dorothy Brasfield, artistic director of the Four Seasons of the Arts, said it is the performance to which the community looks forward each year.

“We have at least 250 to 300 people attend,” Brasfield said.

The event is free, Brasfield said, but donations are welcome. She said donated money is used to offset the cost of concerts. Four Seasons of the Arts is a local cultural organization that aims to bring the symphony and other cultural performers to Vicksburg.

The candlelight performance begins at 7 p.m.
