Two men accused of breaking into a home and beating and robbing a man early Sunday in front of his girlfriend and a child were held without bail today.
Michael Coleman Brooks, 23, 1386 Wright Road, and Bobby A. Miller, 25, 2649 Oak Ridge Road, Lot 11, were arrested Sunday and charged with burglary, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Brooks is accused of forcing his way into a home in the 100 block of Mount Alban Road shortly after midnight Sunday, Pace said. Brooks and the homeowner had been in an argument about a relationship with a woman, Pace said. The victim did not require medical treatment, Pace said, and the woman and child were unharmed.
During the fight, Miller took the victim’s wallet and four cellphones, Pace said.
The two also are accused of vandalizing the home and shattering the back windshield of the victim’s vehicle, Pace said.
“While they were in the home they not only assaulted the victim but did damage to the interior of the home and furnishings,” Pace said.
Brooks was arrested at 1:45 a.m. Sunday at a Vicksburg motel, and Miller was arrested when he returned home at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Pace said.
Both men were held this morning in the Warren County Jail. Brooks also was held for the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a probation violation, Pace said.
A third man was arrested but later released without being charged, according to jail records.
