Sales taxes to city up 7% for year

Sales taxes collected in Vicksburg during fiscal 2011-12 came in higher than last year, fulfilling officials’ expectations for the year.
Receipts received Tuesday for sales in September, the final month of the fiscal year, showed $588,395 in taxes collected, ahead of September 2011 by more than $10,000. For the year, the city collected $7,707,994 in sales taxes, or $504,229 — 7 percent — more than fiscal 2011.
