Augusta Brown Sr.

Services for Augusta “Pocket” Brown Sr. will be at noon Saturday at Traveler’s Rest M.B. Church with the Rev. Richard Caples officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mr. Brown died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at his home. He was 65.

He retired from Anderson-Tully Lumber Mill after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter M.B. Church of Utica.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Lee and Lutitia Brown Ringo; four brothers, Willie J. Moore, Archie Lee Hampton, Leroy Crumb and Willie Edward Lee; and a grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey E. Brown of Vicksburg; four sons, Augusta Brown Jr., Michael C. Jones Sr. and Jeremy A. Brown, all of Vicksburg, and William M. Brown of Florence; eight daughters, Felecia Ann Kelly, Jacqueline D. Brown, Adrian S. Brown and Constance Elliot, all of Vicksburg, Jalena M. Brown of Florence, Jackie J. Rozell of Detroit and Ray Shanta Price and Evelyn Wilson, both of Jackson; eight brothers, James Brown Sr. of Utica, Isiah Brown of Baton Rouge, Billy Gaskin of Vicksburg, Barris Brown of Pascagoula, Hardy Lee of Indiana, Amos Lee of Huntsville, Ala., and Jerry Brown and John Lee, both of Jackson; three sisters, Maude Lee Seals of Jackson, Deloria Evans of Utica and Joyce Coleman of Vicksburg; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and neices, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
