Linda Ann Gordon Carter

Linda Ann Gordon Carter died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 68.

Ms. Carter was born and lived most of her life in Vicksburg. She was a nurse for 18 years in Vicksburg and Okinawa, Japan. She loved her pet dog, Trixie. She enjoyed her hobbies of drawing, music, needlepoint, trivia, playing cards with friends and corresponding with her penpals.

She was a member of Gibson United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert N. Gordon Sr. and Helen Sheffield Gordon; and a niece, Alexandra Jade Gordon.

Survivors include a brother, Bob Gordon Jr. (Sandi); nephews, Trey Gordon (Karen), Todd Gordon (Cheryl) and Scott Gordon (Rhonda); a niece, Kim Yelverton (Tim); great-nieces, Amber Gordon Kintsley (Michael), Kayli Claire Gordon and Hannah Gordon; great-great-nephew, Hayden Travis Gordon; and great-great-niece, Lanie Grace Kintsley.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mitch Cochran officiating and Sonya Erickson as vocalist. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Friday until the service.

Pallbearers will be nephews Trey Gordon, Todd Gordon and Scott Gordon and great-nephews, Matthew Yelverton, Channing Gordon, Conner Yelverton, John Gordon and Hayes Gordon.

Honorary pallbearers will be the loving family and staff of Magnolia Manor, Dr. Paul W. Pierce III, Larry and Jennifer Sheffield, Alicia and Robert Hayes, Kim and Tim Yelverton, the staff of Vicksburg Convalescent Home (special thanks to Lashonda Ware) and the fifth-floor staff of River Region Medical Center (special thanks to Susan Fitzgerald and Rachel Rankin).
