A Vicksburg man accused with two others of a three-day crime spree that involved kidnapping and robbing a 76-year-old man will spend five years in prison for violating his probation.

Kodey Frank Goulette, 20, 107 Warren St., was found guilty of violating probation from a 2011 conviction for burglary and possession of burglary tools and sentenced by Circuit Judge Isadore Patrick to five years in prison.

Terms of felony probation require that a probationer not be arrested or indicted for any new offense. In October, Goulette and Lance Burton, 25, 3700 Gowall Road, were indicted on two counts of felony shoplifting that occurred on Sept. 15 at The Home Depot and Sept. 17 at Walmart.

The thefts, police said, were part of a crime spree that culminated with a kidnapping Sept. 18 in the parking lot between Rainbow Casino and AmeriHost Inn, both in the 1300 block of Warrenton Road.

The kidnapping and robbery will be presented to the grand jury in January, District Attorney Ricky Smith said.

Burton, Goulette and Misty Lee, 21, 405 Timberlane Place, are accused of approaching the man in the parking lot before Goulette pulled a gun on the man and robbed him of $190, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Burton and Lee followed in another car as Goulette forced the man at gunpoint into Walmart, where he was forced to withdraw and hand over an additional $250 from an ATM at Woodforest Bank inside the store, Stewart said.

Video of the Sept. 17 shoplifting at Walmart was discovered during the investigation, Stewart said.

Goulette was convicted of burglary and possession of burglary tools in 2011 from a break-in Dec. 30, 2009, at Watkins’ Nursery, 3698 S. Frontage Road. During the burglary, Goulette stole two moneybags filled with paperwork from the business, according to court records. The bags were full of bank statements from 1993, but contained no cash, according to records.
