A Vicksburg man taken to University of Mississippi Medical Center after a wreck on U.S. 61 South was listed in good condition Friday evening, hospital spokeswoman Amanda Allitson said.

Spencer Carney, 24, 540 Old Cain Ridge Road, was traveling north about in his 2004 GMC Yukon when he rear-ended a 1997 Ford Ranger driven by Jessica Massey, 26, 175 Hackberry Drive, at the Dana Road intersection at about 7 p.m., Vicksburg police officer Jason Wood said.

Wood said Massey was attempting to pull over to the shoulder when Carney hit her.

Woods said the cause of the wreck is still under investigation.

Massey was taken to River Region Medical Center where she was treated Friday night and expected to be released by this morning, hospital spokeswoman Heather Butler said.

The wreck backed up traffic about a half mile while the vehicles were towed and the scene was cleaned of debris.
