Holiday festivities came to a head Saturday night with more than 6,000 people attending the annual Christmas parade on Washington Street downtown.

“We had a beautiful night, and the parade participants and crowd were great,” said Kim Hopkins, executive director of Vicksburg Main Street, which sponsors the annual parade. “The turnout was real good tonight with the weather. Good weather gets the kids out. That, and we had Sesame Street come to the (Vicksburg) Convention Center today, so that probably brought some families out ,too.”
