“I think we finally started to move the ball well,” St. Al coach Suzie Channel said. “We had 27 shots on goal and that will help us going into a big game at Madison-St. Joe.”

For her part, Ranager had little to say. She scored the first goal less than two minutes into the game, then tallied two more in the second half.

“I’m still learning a lot from my teammates,” Ranager said.

Sara Katherine McDaniel, who also had three assists, put in a rebound for a 2-0 lead at the 10-minute mark. Seven minutes later, Stephanie Riveros blasted a 45-yard shot for a 3-0 edge. She said the Lady Flashes have gotten better on offense.

“We did well in the first half and we worked the ball pretty well,” Riveros said.

Philadelphia got back into the match with a goal from Angela Manley at the 1:50 mark in the second half. St. Al countered with Ranager scoring her second goal 11 minutes later for a 4-1 lead.

Philadelphia keeper K.K. Bounds made eight saves through the first 55 minutes, then ran into Riveros on a diving stop and did not return.

“That was an accident,” Riveros said. “Our knees hit and she got the worst of it.”

St. Al took advantage with three quick goals. Haylee Prescott made a 30-yard bender while Ranager scored two in a two-minute span midway through the half.
