Gordon, Oliver marry

Matthew Flynn Gordon and Brittany Leigh Oliver were married at 5 p.m. Sept. 29, 2012, at Woodlawn Baptist Church. The Rev. Scott Maxwell officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dale and Jo Ann Oliver of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Harvie and Mary Oliver of Vicksburg and the late Eddie and Elnora Smith.

The groom is the son of Billy and Tracy Gordon of Vicksburg and the late Karan Alexander Gordon. He is the grandson of Robert and Jeannette Alexander of Kosciusko; Stacy and Patricia Hatcher of Port Gibson; and Marie Gordon of Benton and the late Billy Gordon Sr.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride’s chosen color was plum with fall accents. Nuptial music was presented by Daniel and Mary Vernon, soloists, and Donna Harper, pianist.

Maid of honor was Lindsey Dale McMahon of Vicksburg. Matron of honor was Brooke Oliver Sorrells, sister of the bride, of Chelsea, Ala. Bridesmaids were Courtney Weaver Warnock and Amanda Lim Barnes, both of Vicksburg; Emily Coker Sills of Brandon; Haleigh Michelle Pritchett of Starkville; Beth Ann Hannis of Byram; Erin Placer Gordon, sister-in-law of the groom, of New Orleans; Ashley Lauren Swillie of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and Nicole Hardin Embry of Charleston, S.C.

The groom’s brothers, Kyle Bradley Gordon of New Orleans and Reed Aaron Gordon of Vicksburg, served as best men. Groomsmen were Kenneth Jay Prince and William Carey Bagby, both of Vicksburg; Kyle Garrett Rogers and Gary Alvin Smith Jr., both of Starkville; Benjamin Blake Pickle of Grenada; Joel Dawes Little of Byram; Terry Chad Sorrells, brother-in-law of the bride, of Chelsea, Ala.; and Matthew James Simpson of Oceanside, Calif.

Ushers were Eric Christopher Burnham of Starkville, Dustin Shawn Smith of Vicksburg and Treivon Jermaine Lindsey of Norcross, Ga.

Flower girl was Olivia Marie Gordon of Delcambre, La. Ring bearer was Alexander Brayden Sorrells of Chelsea.

Leah Marie McMahon and Kelsie Lane Bailey, both of Vicksburg, served as program attendants.

Attending the wedding book was Emily Claire Swillie of Vicksburg.

Special wedding assistants were Betsy Harbaugh and Dianna Wolfe. Erika Dean Barnes served as the bride’s proxy.

A reception followed at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center.

For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Asheville, N.C. They will make their home in Vicksburg, where the bride is employed at Hampton Inn & Suites and the groom is employed with Tower Loan.

Rehearsal dinner

On the night before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Roca Restaurant.

Bridesmaids’ luncheon

Mary Oliver, Donna Rocconi and Jo Ann Oliver hosted a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Cedar Grove Mansion.

Showers

The bride was honored with a shower at Woodlawn Baptist Church. Hostesses were Joan Farish, Shelia Smith, Judy Brantley, Nancy Smith, Lisa Myers, Niki Brantley, Georganne Swillie, Dixie Henry, Anya Henry, Elizabeth Goss, Bobbi Harbin and Michele McMahon.

Lindsey McMahon, Amanda Barnes, Emily Sills, Courtney Warnock, Ashley Swillie and Kyle and Erin Gordon honored the bridal couple with a tailgating shower at the home of Matthew and Emily Sills.

The couple was honored with a his-and-hers shower at The Bazsinsky House. Host couples were Will and Michele McMahon, Michael and Kathy Bailey, Charlie and Jan Little, Jay and Shelia Prince, Bo and Faye Hardin and Eddie and Shelia Smith.

Diane Wade, Marie Gordon and Sherri Bruner honored the bride with a shower at Midway Baptist Church.
