Suspects surrender on robbery charge

Two of three men accused of robbing a 44-year-old man playing basketball Monday at a park at Ken Karyl Avenue and Raine Street turned themselves in to Vicksburg Police Friday afternoon.

Bobby Bunton, 20, 1355 Warrenton Road, and Melvin Harris, 19, 105 Evergreen St., Port Gibson, both turned themselves in at 1:08 p.m. Friday, Vicksburg police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Johnny Taylor Jr., 20, 1501 Military Ave., was previously arrested about 7 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 2600 block of Roosevelt Avenue.

The three are accused of stealing a Blackberry cellphone valued at $100 and a wallet containing $600 from the man, Stewart said.

Bunton is currently on probation from a 2011 conviction for nonresidential burglary and two counts of vehicle burglary. Taylor is also accused of stealing at gunpoint $800 from a man walking in the 2500 block of Halls Ferry Road in Marcus Bottom Nov. 16, Stewart said.

Bunton and Harris were both being held at Issaquena County Jail on $100,000 bond.
