Charles Darden, Sr.

CLINTON — Charles Darden, Sr. died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at his home in Jackson. He was 74.

Mr. Darden was a contractor and was a member of Christ Tabernacle Church in Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carla Lee Thurman and Lee Darden Sr.; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Vanessa Darden of Jackson; two sons, Charles Darden, Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., and Nelson Buckley of Jackson; six daughters, Jeanette Young, Mary Smith, Darlene Bodlin, Margaret Bell, Murjani Buckley and LaNikki Tyra, all of Jackson; four brothers, McKinley Bell, Lee Darden Jr., and Brian Darden, all of Vicksburg, and Glenn Darden of Denton, Texas; 12 sisters, Josie Franks of Sacramento, Calif., Toni Scales of San Diego, Calif., Doretha Webb of Lake Village, Ark., Renette Chisley of Denton, Texas, Paulette Darden, Daphine Ferguson, Pattie Horne, Katie Harris, Melba Darden, Bernadine Bass, Mary Turner and Eunice Tillman, all of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Smith’s Mortuary in Clinton. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
