Kenny W. Channell

Kenny W. Channell died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. He was 67.
Born in Hazlehurst, he had been a resident of Vicksburg most of his life. He was the son of the late Lawrence Henry Channell and Sina Ruth Breedon Channell.
Mr. Channell was a graduate of Jett High School, Hinds Community College and the Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy. He had over 20 years of service with the Warren County Sheriffs Department and retired as the ordinance enforcement officer for the Warren County Road Department.
He was an avid hunter, horse enthusiast and belonged to several riding clubs. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by three daughters, Samantha Mann (Neil), Crystal Findley and Buffie Findley; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Billy Ray Channell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Winkie Channell, and son, Bo Channell.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Pine Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery in Dentville, with the Rev. Marvin Curtis, pastor of Warrenton Independent Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Riles Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to charities of choice.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Channell, Johnny Phillips, Neil Mann, Eddie Smith, Glen Kittrell and Tom Wallace.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Sheriff Martin Pace and members of the Warren County Sheriffs Department, Billy Heggins, Leroy Williams, Tommy Clarston, Butch Landers and “Uncle” Pete Buford.
