Thomas A. Gaskin

Thomas A. “Sammy” Gaskin died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. He was 69.
He had worked at the Waterways Experiment Station and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth Reese Gaskin, and  his brother, Otis Gaskin.
Survivors include his three daughters, Dr. Kenya M. Gaskin of Vicksburg, Kesi L. Gaskin of Carlsbad, N.M., and Brittany Cooper of Florida; brothers, Melvin Gaskin of Hampton, Va., James Gaskin II of California and Alfred Gaskin of Vicksburg; sisters, Gayle Marie Johnson of Richmond, Calif., and Laura Robinson of Arizona; one grandchild; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Services for Thomas A. “Sammy” Gaskin will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Malcom O’Leary officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday A Rosary will be said at 6p.m.
