Five VSA swimmers picked as all-stars

Five swimmers from the Vicksburg Swim Association — Tommy Martin, Adam Eckstein, Adrienne Eckstein, Ann Elizabeth Farthing and Katie Fox — were selected to particiapte in the Mississippi vs. Louisiana All-Star Champs meet March 22 in Jackson.

The meet will be at The Courthouse Racket and Fitness Center, and will begin at 11 a.m.

Hinds CC women’s basketball tryouts

Hinds Community College will hold tryouts for its women’s basketball program on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at J.D. Boyd Gym on the Utica campus. All participants must bring a valid physical form.

Northwest CC basketball tryouts

Tryouts for the Northwest Mississippi Community College women’s basketball team will be held Monday at Howard Coliseum on the Senatobia campus. Red Cross lifeguard class

The Purks YMCA will host an American Red Cross lifeguard certification class from March 24 through April 4. The 10-day, 28-hour course will meet from 6 to 8:45 p.m. each day. Cost of the class is $100 for Y members and $115 for non-members. Students must be at least 15 years old before April 4. Instructors are Susan Athow, Bob Athow, and Sylvia Gurtowski.

Umps, scorekeepers needed for spring

The Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department is looking for umpires and scorekeepers for youth softball, adult softball and youth baseball leagues. Employment forms can be picked up at the parks and recreation offices on 100 Army-Navy Drive.

Adult softball registration open

Registration for the Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department’s adult softball league is open until April 11. Registration packets can be picked up at the Parks and Rec office at 100 Army Navy Drive, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The registration fee is $175 per team, with an extra $10 fee for non-city residents and $20 for residents of Sharkey, Issaquena and Claiborne counties.

A mandatory coaches meeting will be held at the Parks and Rec office on April 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Clear Creek 9-hole golf league
