Kay Farris Hensley, 64, of Port Gibson, was taken home by the Lord on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the family home in Port Gibson.

Kay was born on Aug. 20, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas.  She was a graduate of Gulfport High School in 1967.

In 1968, in Gulfport, she married Earl E. Hensley. She later moved to Jackson before settling into a longtime residency in Clinton, where she raised her family.  Later in life, Kay semi-retired with Earl to the family farm in Port Gibson, where she loved to spend quiet days tending to the property, planting flowers and watching hummingbirds.

Kay was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and mentor to anyone blessed enough to know her.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Earl Hensley of Port Gibson; her children, Scott Hensley (Jennifer) of Jacksonville, Fla., Chad Hensley (Colleen) of Winter Garden, Fla., Jason Hensley (Jennifer) of Cordova, Tenn., and Josh Hensley (Rebecca) of Little Elm, Texas; her brothers, Mike Farris of Plano, Texas, and Tom Farris (Pat) of Keller, Texas; her sisters Pam Farris of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Judy Gall of Texas; her eight grandchildren.

Kay was the matriarch of the Hensley family, leaving a rich, godly heritage of love. If you were blessed enough to know Kay, you would know her fierce loyalty, friendship, giving spirit, adventurous attitude and guiding wisdom to all she knew. Kay was always quick with a smile, a caring helping hand, and a hug, which seemingly made the world’s problems go away.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Glenwood Funeral Home.
