June Evans Williams

June Evans Williams passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg. She was 82 years old.

Mrs. Williams was born in Canton.

She was preceded in death by both parents, James H. Evans and Sallie Bell Parrot; two brothers, Ernest Meeks and James Evans “Red”; her husband, Ernest L. Williams Sr.; and one son, James Williams.

She is survived by a sister, Minnie (Joe) Hardy of Canton; her son, Ernest Leroy (Dianne) Williams Jr., and daughters Pam (Paul) Rachal and Barbara Mosley, all of Vicksburg; and a daughter-in-law, Cathie Williams of Canton.

June also has 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was retired from the Warren County Sheriff’s Department where she was nicknamed “Thunder Cat” by the officers, and served on the Warren County Election Commission during voting. She was a member of the DAR, the Republican Women, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Acacia Chapter No. 56, Vicksburg.

A viewing will be at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Tuesday, July 15, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. until the service at 11. A graveside service will be held in Canton Cemetery in Canton at 1:30 pm. Brother Marvin Curtis from Warrenton Independent Baptist Church will officiate at the service.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and a great-grandson.  The Warren County Sheriff’s Department will be honorary pallbearers.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may go to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or to the Mississippi Sheriff Boys and Girls Ranch.
