A benefit concert to help raise funds for a local teenager who is fighting Ewing’s sarcoma — a cancerous bone tumor that affects children and teenagers often is scheduled for Saturday at Warren Central High School, 1000 Mississippi 27.
The Afton Strong! Benefit Concert will run from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and the cost is $10 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and younger.
Afton was diagnosed with the cancer in May and has undergone chemotherapy and radiation treatments at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
Saturday’s concert will include performances by the WCHS choir, the Crossway Praise Team, Jacob Lloyd, Rewind, Chandler Brown and Noel Tello, who is from the band SlapHappy.
The Big Blue Band, of which Afton was a member before her diagnosis, will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs and Bowmar Avenue Elementary School will be selling popcorn.
The event will also include a cakewalk, face painting and an inflatable bouncy house.
