Hundreds of bikers are expected to roll though Warren County and rally on Culkin Road next weekend, but don’t worry. They’ll be raising up the kingdom of heaven, not any hell.
“We call it plunder hell and fill up heaven,” said the Rev. Doyle Moulder, pastor of Living Water Christian Fellowship, which will be hosting the rally of Christian bikers Saturday and Sunday at the church on Culkin Road.
A few months ago, several men in the church joined Chariots of Light, a motorcycle ministry founded by televangelist and Vicksburg native Jerry Savelle.
At least 100 bikers from the region are slated to come to the event, and Chariots of Light members have said they plan to bring about 100 bikers too, Moulder said.
The church began its motorcycle ministry after former outlaw biker Pete Toten joined the congregation.
“When he started coming to the men’s group, we decided that men need something that they can gravitate too,” Moulder said.
And so came the bikes, which both Moulder and Toten have had a lifelong interest in.
“I’ve had an interest in talking to outlaw bikers ever since I got back into church,” Toten said.
Toten, who is a cancer survivor and stroke survivor, has traded in the traditional two-wheeled Harley Davidson in favor of one with three wheels. Still, the cruiser is an impressive piece of machinery that draws attention from other bikers.
“You go somewhere where there’s several bikers parked and they’ll talk to you. You have the bike and you have something in common,” Toten said. “That bike doesn’t mean nothing to me. It’s just a tool. Winning someone over for the Lord is the most important thing.”

The biker weekend begins at 3 p.m. Saturday at the church, 2075 Culkin Road with a barbecue and games, Moulder said. A gospel concert featuring The Crosbys, Anthony Goss and Big Dave White follows at 6 p.m.
Admission is free.
“It’s not just for bikers,” Moulder said.
Starting at 8 a.m. Oct. 5, the public is invited to come have coffee and donuts and look at the bikes parked at the church, Moulder said.
Savelle will be speaking at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 5 at the church, just down the road from a house that he traded to Roger Harris for a 1967 Corvette in 2013.
The house was on Stenson Road, but Harris and his wife Sandra moved the house to Culkin Road in the spring of 2013.
