Sylvester Pinkney

Sylvester Pinkney died Oct. 16, 2014, at River Region Medical Center.  

He was 71.

Mr. Pinkney was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School in Vicksburg and Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Pinkney Sr., and a special friend, Rudeana Preacely.

Survivors include his mother, Sarah Pinkney of Roosevelt, N.Y.; one son, Sylvester Preacely of Westbury, N.Y.; one brother, Samuel Pinkney Jr. of Brandywine, Md.; two sisters, Millie Caldwell of Roosevelt, N.Y., and Gloria Phillips of Hempstead, N.Y.; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be noon Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
