Parks and Rec offers CPR class

The Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department will host an American Red Cross adult and pediatric CPR and AED class on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at its office at 100 Army Navy Drive. The price of the class, which provides a two-year CPR certification, is $70. Adavnce registration is required.

Adult basketball league registration

Registration for the Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department’s adult men’s and women’s basketball leagues is now open and will continue until Dec. 17. Games will begin on Jan. 12.

The registration fee is $125 per team, plus an extra $10 fee for each non-city resident. Team fees will not exceed $175. Registration packets can be picked up at the Parks and Rec offices at 100 Army Navy Drive, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday.

MSHOF raffling Egg Bowl tickets

The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is raffling off two tickets to the Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss football game in Oxford on Nov. 29. The raffle tickets are $10 each, and all proceeds will benefit the MSHOF’s Orley Hood Award endowment.

Hood, a Vicksburg native and longtime columnist for the Clarion-Ledger, died in February. The Orley Hood Award is given annually by the Hall of Fame to the state’s top high school journalist.

MSU drop-down pitching camp

Mississippi State will host its drop-down pitching camp Dec. 13 in Starkville. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is designed to provide intensive instruction on all aspects of drop-down pitching for players in high school and junior college. The instructors will be MSU pitching coach Butch Thompson and former major leaguers Chad Bradford and Scott Sullivan.

The cost of the one-day camp is $200. Players can sign up at hailstate.com/camps, and registration will begin at 8 a.m. the day of the camp.

Southern Miss baseball camp

Southern Miss will host its Fall Showcase baseball camp on Saturday at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg. The camp is designed to allow current high school and junior college players a chance to showcase their abilities and receive instruction from current Southern Miss and junior college coaches.

Registration starts at 11 a.m., and the camp at noon. The registration fee is $155 per camper.
