Hotel robbed at gunpoint today

An armed robber was on the lam this morning after making off with an undetermined amount of cash from a Vicksburg hotel in an early morning robbery.

At 2:15 a.m., the clerk at Fairfield Inn, 20 Orme Drive, reported that a 6-foot man wearing a black jacket and a camouflage ski masked entered the hotel with a gun and demanded money, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

The clerk gave the robber an undetermined amount of cash, and the robber fled, Williams said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call Vicksburg police at 601-636-2511 or Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477.

Crime Stoppers will offer a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect. Callers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court.

 

Electronics, gun missing in thefts

Electronics and a gun were missing this morning following two burglaries in Vicksburg.

At 1:3 p.m. Thursday, an LG cellphone valued at $500 and a 51-inch Samsung television valued at $1,000 were reported stolen from a home in the 200 block of Meadowvale Drive, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

At 2 a.m. today, a Glock pistol and magazine valued at $630 was reported stolen from a 2003 Infinity at LD’s Kitchen, 1111 Mulberry St.
