Adult basketball registration

Registration for the Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department’s adult men’s and women’s basketball leagues is now open and will continue until Dec. 17. Games will begin on Jan. 12.

The registration fee is $125 per team, plus an extra $10 fee for each non-city resident. Team fees will not exceed $175. Registration packets can be picked up at the Parks and Rec offices at 100 Army Navy Drive, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday.

Vicksburg High track tryouts

Tryouts for Vicksburg High’s varsity track and field team will be heled Dec. 2 and 3 at 4 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. All interested athletes must have a completed physical before they can try out, and should wear athletic clothing and tennis shoes. Athletes must attend both days of tryouts to be eligible for the team.

MSU drop-down pitching camp

Mississippi State will host its drop-down pitching camp Dec. 13 in Starkville. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is designed to provide intensive instruction on all aspects of drop-down pitching for players in high school and junior college. The instructors will be MSU pitching coach Butch Thompson and former major leaguers Chad Bradford and Scott Sullivan.
