Postseason honors continued to pour in for St. Aloysius on Tuesday.
Quarterback Connor Smith was selected the Region 2-1A offensive player of the year and 14 other players earned all-region honors in voting by the league’s coaches.
Smith, a three-year starter, finished his high school career with 5,472 total yards from scrimmage, 23 rushing touchdowns and 15 passing touchdowns. His 2,736 rushing yards are the most ever for a Warren County player who spent his entire career at quarterback.
Smith also played safety and intercepted nine passes this season, and served as the team’s punter.
St. Al’s coaching staff was selected as the region’s coach of the year after leading the Flashes to a 13-2 record, their first region championship since 1993, and a berth in the Class 1A championship game.
Selected first-team all-region were running back DeMichael Harris; linemen Bash Brown, Jacob Kitchens, Drake Dorbeck and Josh Price; linebackers Casey Landers and Taedrin Warnsley; and kicker Casey Griffith.
Linemen Ben Brown and Bryce Richards, and receivers Brandon Teller and Lany Hynum were second-team selections.
Wide receiver Brandon Harrell and tight end Rett Verhine made the honorable mention list.
