Ruddie Shears heated up just in time to pull the Vicksburg Missy Gators out of the fire Tuesday night.

Shears, a senior forward, scored six of her eight points in a brief flurry midway through the fourth quarter to put Vicksburg in the lead, and it hung on for a hard-fought 41-39 victory over Germantown.

Shears was just 3-of-23 shooting from the field, but hit a 3-pointer, a jumper and split a pair of free throws all in a row to give the Missy Gators the 41-39 lead with about 3 ½ minutes remaining. They then burned off the rest of the clock with a stall offense and solid defense to preserve the victory.
