Flu-ridden Lady Flashes top Raymond

Neither the flu, nor Raymond, could slow down the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes on Friday night.
Mary Ranager scored four goals, Haylee Prescott had three, and Cass Hudson chipped in four assists as the Lady Flashes went on the road and hammered Raymond 8-0.
St. Al improved to 5-0 despite playing without five starters who missed the game because of illness. The ones that were there more than took up the slack.
In addition to Ranager and Prescott, Anna Beauchamp scored a goal.
St. Al will return to action next Friday at Terry.
(B) St. Al 4, Raymond 0
Lofton Varner scored twice in the second half after switching from defense to offense, helping St. Al (3-2) pull away for a win over Raymond.
Justin Ehrgott and Lee Hanks also had goals for the Flashes, who scored three times in the second half to blow it open.
St. Al outshot Raymond 32-2. Eighth-grade keeper Chuck Beamish recorded the shutout.
(G) Pearl 4, Warren Central 1
Pearl scored three goals in the first half to take an insurmountable lead and went on to beat Warren Central (4-8) on Friday night.
WC had 10 shots on goal in the game, but only converted one — a first-half header by Drew Barnes off a pass from Laney Smith.
(B) Pearl 3, Warren Central 0
Warren Central wasn’t able to muster much offense Friday night, collecting only five shots on goal in a shutout loss to Pearl.
Brian McHan made 11 saves for Warren Central and Eliott Stockett played well while filling in on defense for Keionne Mellon, but the Vikings (8-3-2) still had a two-game winning streak snapped and lost for just the second time in seven games.
Mellon missed the game because of an illness.
“We were missing our only senior starter, so we had to switch some people around and put some younger guys in new positions. They did all right, but (Pearl) outplayed us today,” WC coach Greg Head said.
Warren Central will have off until next Saturday, when it goes on the road for its first division game of the season against Greenville. The Vikings will then be off until Jan. 3 at Raymond.
Vicksburg vs. Cathedral, ppd.
Friday’s games between Vicksburg High and Cathedral were postponed because of wet field conditions. No make up date has been set.
Vicksburg will return to action next Friday at Forest.
