Warren Central track tryouts

Tryouts for Warren Central’s varsity boys track team will be held Jan. 7 at 4 p.m. at Viking Stadium. All prospective athletes will need to bring a current physical and workout gear. For more information, call coach Larry Tyrone at 601-638-3372 or email him at ltyrone@mail.vwsd.k12.ms.

Warren Central golf tryouts

Adult basketball league registration

Registration for the Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department’s adult men’s and women’s basketball leagues will continue until Wednesday. Games will begin on Jan. 12.

The registration fee is $125 per team, plus an extra $10 fee for each non-city resident.

Registration packets can be picked up at the Parks and Rec offices at 100 Army Navy Drive.

There will be a mandatory coaches meeting on Dec. 29. For more information, call Joseph Graves at 601-634-4514.

Chill in the Hills registration

Registration is now open for the 7th annual Chill in the Hills 10K run and 5K race walk. The event, which goes through downtown Vicksburg, is scheduled for Jan. 17 at 8:30 a.m. In addition to the individual run and race walk, there will be a two-person relay division and a 1-mile children’s fun run.

The early registration fee is available until Jan. 2, and is $25 for individual runners and walkers; $50 per two-person relay team; $15 for the 1-mile run; and a $100 team rate for up to five people.

Blues Marathon needs volunteers

The Mississippi Blues Marathon, the state’s largest road race, is looking for volunteers to assist with race operations.

Volunteers are needed to assist with check-in on Jan. 9 and the race in Jackson on Jan. 10.

Southern Miss baseball camp

The Southern Miss Winter Showcase baseball camp is scheduled for Jan. 10 at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the camp at noon. The cost is $155.

The camp is designed for current high school and junior college players to receive instruction from Southern Miss and junior college coaches on defense, improving 60-yard dash times, and hitting.

M-Braves seek entertainers

The Mississippi Braves are looking for entertainers to perform on the Main Stage at Trustmark Park during the 2015 baseball season. All acts are welcome.
