Lady Flashes KO Franklin County to end slide

The St. Aloysius Lady Flashes shook off their New Year’s funk with a solid all-around performance Monday night.

Mary Ranager scored two goals, and Anna Beauchamp added a third as the Lady Flashes beat Franklin County 3-0.

It was St. Al’s first win of 2015, after it was outscored 14-2 in division losses to St. Andrew’s and Madison-St. Joseph last week.

Beauchamp and Ranager each had a goal in the first half, and Ranager put the game away in the second off an assist from Haylee Prescott.

St. Al’s defense of Shelby Bottin, Brantlee Richards, Catherine Smith and London Varner held Franklin County to only five shots on goal. Alexa Baldizon recorded the shutout in goal.

St. Al (7-4-1) will return to action Thursday night at home against Olive Branch.

(B) St. Aloysius 0, Franklin County 0

St. Al (3-6-1) failed to score a goal for the third consecutive game, but also recorded a shutout as it played to a scoreless tie with Franklin County.

Landon Little had the shutout for the Flashes, who outshot Franklin County 6-4 in the defensive battle.
