George “Dollar” Long died Feb. 8, 2015, at his home. He was 87.

He was born Sept. 17, 1927, to the late Mary Ann Funchess in Edwards.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.

Besides his mother, Mr. Long was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alberta Long; uncle, Haywood Williams; son, Dawyne Hawkins; and grandson, Cory Perossier.

Survivors include his son, Damen Long of Winter Park, Fla.; daughter, Felicia Hawkins of Vicksburg; a cousin; two grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with Minister Antonio Cobbs officiating.
