Vicksburg Warren County School District Superintendent Chad Shealy, early Wednesday morning, announced the school district will again close Wednesday due to the threat of inclement wintry weather.

The announcement covers all of the system’s schools and offices.

Porters Chapel Academy and Vicksburg Catholic Schools along with the City of Vicksburg and Warren County government offices are also closed.

Hinds Community College and Alcorn State University’s Vicksburg campus will be closed Wednesday.

Public and private schools and local government offices were also closed Tuesday as the first wave of wintry weather rolled through the area, leaving behind a dangerous layer of ice and snow.

The National Weather Service and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency could not provide a clear picture of just how much — if any — snow and ice would be included in this second wave of wintry weather, but the threat was too much for school officials to chance.
