Mabel Fisher Peterson

Mabel Fisher Peterson died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at her home. She was 90.
Mrs. Peterson was a retired Justice Court Judge. She was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Warren County to the late Membsy and Maggie Winston Fisher Hall.
She was a member of Jackson Street Baptist Church, where she was a choir member, member of the board of trustees member and kitchen ministry leader. She was a member of numerous organizations, including the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Eastern Star, Eureka Temple, AARP Local Chapter 4967, and the Vicksburg Benevolent Homecoming Club.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Aaron Hall; husband, Fred Douglas Peterson; six brothers, C.J. Fisher Sr., Frank Fisher, George Fisher, Horace Fisher, James Fisher and Membsy Fisher; two sisters, Maggie Lee Fisher Otis and Ruby Walton; two sisters-in-law, Clara Fisher and Dorothy Fisher.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Roy Holmes of Vicksburg; daughter, Robbie Jean Holmes Ware of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at Jackson Street Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Wesley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
