St. Aloysius finished its spring break trip to Gulf Shores with a romp on the beach.

Derek Dolan pitched a complete game and helped his own cause by going 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs, and the Flashes routed Hatley 16-4 on Wednesday in their final game at the Gulf Shores Classic in Alabama.

The Flashes went 2-2 in four games in the tournament. They lost the opener on Monday, 5-4 to Holt (Ala.) and then 8-1 on Tuesday against Tennesse’s Wilson Central, but beat Madison-Ridgeland Academy on Tuesday and then throttled Hatley (0-2) in the finale.

“This was a great trip. Good competition. The guys are starting to buy in. We pounded it today,” St. Al coach Steve Hancock said.

St. Al (4-4) had five extra base hits and 16 hits total against Hatley.

Lane Hynum went 2-for-3 with a double, while Will Pierce was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Drake Dorbeck was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Lee Simpson and George Tzotzolas each drove in two runs, and Landon Middleton was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Dolan pitched five innings — the game was halted early by the mercy rule — to get the win. He scattered six hits and struck out two.

The Flashes will return to action March 18 at Bazinsky Field when they host Central Private.
