Doyle W. Stewart died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at River Region Medical Center. He was 86. Born in McAdams, Miss. he was the son of the late Zack Stewart and Minnie Mae McCellan Stewart.
Mr. Stewart served in the Navy during World War II as a machinist mate in the Submarine Service. He was employed by International Paper Company from 1967 to 1985, retiring as a maintenance supervisor.
He was a member of the American Legion and was an avid woodworker and gardener. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and brother-in-law.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Stewart (Kay), of Vicksburg, Bobby Stewart (Patti), of Abita Springs, La.; five granddaughters, Kim Ashley, Jennifer Bradford (Gary), Lindsey Stewart Fascetta (Marcus), Kacey Stewart and Danielle Garton (Jake Carraway); three grandsons, Tommy Stewart (Tammy), Zack Stewart and Justin White and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Vivian B. Stewart and three sisters, Artis Cain, Gladys Donald and Ina Tubertini.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Donald Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to favorite charities.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Stewart, Randy Donald, Lawrence Berry, Butch Berry, Gary Bradford, Doug Tubertini, and Martin Butler.
