On March 12, 2015, Edith W. Thompson was called home by her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was born April 2, 1917, in Delta, La., to John J. and Etta Lavinia Cobb Williamson. After Etta’s death when Edith was two, her father married Lucille Tucker Williamson, who raised her.

She lived most of her life in Vicksburg until moving to Fort Walton Beach, Fla., in 1980. Edith was employed at Neil Butane Company for an extended time, but retired after 16 years with the Warren County School System.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother; her husband, William (Bill) Thompson; her brothers, John J. Williamson, Jr., James Williamson; and sisters, Catherine Williamson and Marie Mabry; plus many nieces and nephews.

Edith is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Caraglior; grandchildren, Gary Caraglior and Karen Caraglior Monarch (Brian); great-grandchildren, Shayla and Paul Monarch; and one brother, Owen Williamson (June) of Vicksburg; plus many nieces and nephews.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach, volunteering in the Christian Life Center and a member of the Praying Hands Bible Class. A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
