Johnny Edward Gatson

Johnny Edward Gatson died March 10, 2015, at River Region Medical Center. He was 58.
Mr. Gaston was a 1974 graduate from Durant Attendance Center and a 1978 graduate of Alcorn State University. He entered military service in 1979 and served until 2001.
He enjoyed his career as a teacher in Holmes (WSHS) and Madison (CPS) counties. In addition, he held a part-time position with the Holmes-Humphries Regional Correctional Facility. His career in law enforcement includes the Canton Police Department and the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mollie L. Harris, and stepfather, Anthony Harris; and former wife, Charlotte Gatson.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Gatson; two daughters, ShaWanda L. Jacome and Chantal P. Gatson; one brother, James Gatson; two stepsisters, Lee Doris Crayton and Vonette Anderson; stepdaughters, Tracie Davenport, Catrinia Lee, Victoria Mitchell and Jacquelyn Nunnally; two stepsons, Mathis Lee and Jamal Lee; one grandson; stepgrandchildren; and aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at ByPass Church of Christ, Highway 61 North, with Brother Willie Nettle officiating. Burial will follow at Natchez Trace Cemetery in Madison under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Monday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
