Warren Central used a strong performance from its boys singles and doubles players to push Germantown to the brink on Monday, but couldn’t reel in a victory.
Germantown secured three points in doubles and another in girls singles to beat the Vikings 4-3.
Warren Central’s William Wooten won his boys singles match 6-2, 6-2, while the No. 1 boys doubles team of Joseph Jabour and Alex Velasquez won 6-1, 6-1.
WC’s No. 2 boys doubles team of Blake Wilson and George Wilkerson won 6-3, 6-1.
The decisive point came in No. 2 girls doubles, where Warren Central’s Lauren Davis and Mikayla Motley put up a fight before losing 3-6, 5-7.
WC will return to action Thursday at Brookhaven, then play in the Julie Abraham Memorial Tournament Saturday at Halls Ferry Park.
