Barry Alan Bagby Sr.

Barry Alan Bagby Sr., age 66, passed from this life in his home surrounded by family on Saturday, March 21, 2015.

Barry, loving husband and father, is survived by his wife of over 34 years, Laurie Fox Bagby; his sons, Barry Alan Bagby II and William Carey Bagby (Brandi); his mother, Doris “Dot” Bagby; brother, James E. “Jimmy” Bagby (Lee); sister Barbara Bagby Petersen (Bob), all of Vicksburg; and very close family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James E. “Red” Bagby.

Barry graduated from H. V. Cooper High School in 1967 and cherished his classmates and the many “Greenie” gatherings that he and Laurie attended over the years. He obtained a degree in aviation maintenance from Hinds Community College.

He worked for the City of Vicksburg, Vicksburg Chemical, and ran his own business, Waste Treatment Services. In the 1970s, he began working as a contract aviation mechanic for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He retired with Bionetics Corp. in 2012 with over 34 years of service as chief mechanic.

Barry was a lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and member of Buck Bayou Hunting Club and lifetime member of the American Rifle Association. He was also a member of the Hinds Community College Aviation Alumni Chapter.

Funeral services for Barry will be Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Brumfield and the Rev. Mitch Cochran officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 24, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Alan Bagby, Carey Bagby, Claude Bagby, Jamie Bagby, Cody McCain and Jim Smith.

Honorary pallbearers are Ray Wright, Ben Hand, James Rone, Buddy Holliday, Richard Miller, Bobby Clark, Barry’s other “Greenies” friends and members of the Buck Bayou Hunting Club.

Memorial gifts may be made to the charity or church of your choice. Endless thanks to the many doctors, nurses and medical professionals that, with God’s help, made Barry’s last years with family and friends possible.
