Clinton crushes Warren Central

Warren Central’s momentum was blunted and its division championship celebration put on hold Friday night.
Three days after suffering a run-rule loss to the Vikings, Clinton returned the favor by pummeling Warren Central 12-4 in the rematch in Clinton.
The teams will play once more this season, April 10 at WC’s Viking Field, in a game that in all likelihood will determine the Division 4-6A championship.
Warren Central (6-5, 4-1 Division 4-6A) had won four consecutive games and could have all but wrapped up the division title by beating Clinton for the second time this week.
The Arrows, though, dominated the rematch from start to finish. They scored three runs in the bottom of the first to take control, then blew it open with a six-spot in the third inning.
Johnnie Moncure’s bases-clearing triple put Clinton ahead 10-0.
Warren Central scored three unearned runs in the fourth to stave off the mercy rule, but couldn’t take advantage of several opportunities to get back in the game. It left four runners on base over the last three innings and had a runner picked off at second to end the fifth. It also failed to take advantage of six walks.
Dylan Creel led Clinton’s offense by going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, and Kyler Johnson was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.
Colton Norris had an RBI single for Warren Central, which only had three hits in the game.
Clinton pitcher Mitchell Foreman went four innings for the win. He walked four, struck out six, and didn’t give up a hit.
Aaron Greene took the loss for Warren Central after giving up seven runs — only three earned — and seven hits in two innings.
WC will return to action Tuesday at home against Greenville.
St. Aloysius 5, Bogue Chitto 3
Derek Dolan went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Lane Hynum had two hits and scored twice, and St. Aloysius (5-5, 1-1 Division 7-1A) picked up a crucial division win by beating Bogue Chitto (7-4, 1-1).
Dolan had RBI singles in the first and seventh innings for St. Al, which never trailed but did nearly let the game slip away.
Bogue Chitto rallied to score a run in the bottom of the seventh to cut the Flashes’ lead to 5-3, and had the tying run on first base. St. Al reliever Will Pierce got Brandon McKenzie to swing at strike three to end the game, however, and the Flashes escaped with the win.
Pierce pitched the last two innings to get the save. He allowed one unearned run and struck out four.
Tucker Lambert was 4-for-4 with an RBI for Bogue Chitto.
