Local students assist at Mississippi State Capitol

Gabriel Bowman, Jay Stirgus and Olivia “Tae” Hubbard recently served as pages for the Mississippi Senate.

Pages generally run errands for officials and Senate staff.

Senator Willie Simmons sponsored Bowman’s visit.

Gabriel is the daughter of Anthony and Zanetta Bowman and attends Warren Central High School.

When asked about the week, Gabriel said, “I had a great experience being a page for the Mississippi Senate. I enjoyed watching the Senators develop and pass laws. It was great to be a part of such a wonderful process.”

W. Briggs Hopson III sponsored Sturgus and Hubbard’s visit.

Jay is the son of Jim & Stephanie Stirgus and attends Vicksburg High School.

When asked about the week, Jay said, “I want to thank Senator Briggs Hopson for choosing me to page for him this week. This has been a great experience and I look forward to paging again.”

Tae is the daughter of Cedrick and Susie Hubbard and attends Warren Central High School.

When asked about the week, Tae said, “I was excited to be chosen to page for Senator Hopson. This experience gave me a taste of the real world of government. I know that it is a great honor to be chosen, and I hope to make many life long connections through this experience.”
