Susan Percy Hyams Ivy

Susan Percy Hyams Ivy, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2015, after a prolonged illness.
Susan was born on March 17, 1929, and raised in New Orleans and attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans.
She raised her family in Vicksburg and moved to Tennessee in retirement. She was an avid reader, and needlework was her passion. Susan attended St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral in Knoxville, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Portis Hyams; her mother; Susan Percy Ker Hyams; and her husband, Dr. Robert Eugene Ivy.
She is survived by her four children, Dr. Susan Percy Ivy of Arlington, Va.; Chesley Ivy of New York; Dr. Robert Eugene Ivy II and his wife, Carney, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and Dr. David Dunbar Ivy and his wife, Ellen of Golden, Colo.
She leaves behind five grandchildren who have always been a great joy in her life, Katie, Maddie, Laura, Walker and Meg.
Her family would like to express their profound gratitude to her caregivers and friends at Arbor Terrace, Knoxville, Tenn., where she resided for the past nine years. We also thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for her over the years.
